June 11 2015 will see the first ever auction outside of Australia by a major auction house, Sotheby’s London.
They will hold a fantastic collection of Aboriginal works selected from the Thomas Vroom Collection.
This collection possesses some of the most anthological pieces, figurative carvings, rare bark carvings and major contemporary canvases. Artists included in this special event are, Rover Thomas, Emily Kngwarreye, Tommy Watson and Ningura Napurrula.
This is going to be an exciting evening with a sense of anticipation that was felt earlier this year with the Laverty Collection which was held in Sydney through Deutscher and Hackett.
The Laverty Collection was one of the most attended auctions that I have witnessed in three years. There is an overwhelming interest in great examples of Aboriginal works that have freshness about them.
Great examples of an artist’s work will always generate the attention it deserves and the works that are included in Sotheby’s June auction deserve everybody’s attention.
